March 31 - April 3 Zurich and hike near Lugano

In the afternoon of March 31, I drove with my son Matt back to Zurich, where he had an early Saturday morning flight back to Los Angeles. We stayed in the suburb of Oerlikon. On Saturday I had the day to myself in Zurich. I wasn't into taking too many pictures, although I love Zurich!

I returned on Sunday to Lugano. On the Swiss train site, SBB.CH, they will often have super saver fares on certain trains. I was lucky to get a fare of only $16.60 from Zurich to Lugano!
Back in Lugano, Monday morning. A gorgeous day and Rick and I go for a walk up the mountainside behind our house. Lugano below looks lovely!

The forest in the spring is full of moss, and oh, so green! Rick takes a drink from one of the mountain fountains.

There are always hiking signs showing the direction. Not only is the sign on the pole, but look closely at the in the center in the background. There is a red and white horizontal stripe painted on the tree. This also indicates the path.

I love these fairy tale bridges over the mountain streams. From so much moisture lately, this one was VERY slippery! I had to take each step carefully and plant my hiking poles. It was like slippery ice. I've never experienced a bridge so slippery!
I took a second outing in the afternoon. I took the bus up to Monte Bré, where there was a great view of Monte Rose in the background. Can you see those snowcapped mountains? This is the highest in Switzerland. It's really impressive!

From Monte Bré, looking north to the valley where we live.

A selfie with the town of Bré in the background and the Italian town of Porlezza  down below at the end of the lake. This is a great picnic site!
