September 1, 2017 - Rainy day trip to Stein-Am-Rhein & Schaffhausen

We have a couple of rainy days here, so yesterday was spent in downtown Zurich for lunch and shopping, and today we took a drive north to near the border of Germany (not far from Zurich) to visit the very cute town of Stein-Am-Rhein and Schaffhausen.

Main town center of Stein-Am-Rhein. The buildings are so incredibly gorgeous!

Stein-Am-Rhein. I remember years ago Rick and I were driving along the road up from this view. I caught a glimpse of the town and told Rick to turn around so we could explore. What a treat that was! It's always been one of my favorite towns in Switzerland.

We approach the town of Schaffhausen and stop for a view of the beautiful Munot castle

Near Schaffhausen are the Rhein Falls. This is part of the entrance to visit the falls.

After our day visiting Stein-Am-Rhein and Schaffhausen, Leslie and I enjoy a dinner of escargot and paté. We got a deal on the escargot at the Coop grocery store - 2 dozen for about $6!! So delicious with my favorite Swiss french baguette - from Migros.
